EIFJ Tokyo (École Internationale Franco-Japonaise 東京日仏国際学園) is a private educational institution operated by a Japanese legal entity. It is recognized as a compliant educational structure by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, authorized to offer the Primary Years Programme by the International Baccalaureate Organization, and is pursuing accreditation by the French Ministry of National Education. As such, all employment contracts comply with Japanese labor law and fall within the applicable regulatory framework, under the supervision of the relevant authorities (Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Kita City Office), as well as the Immigration Services Agency when required.
Income taxation is determined in accordance with the applicable
Japanese tax regulations.
Children of full-time EIFJ Tokyo staff members, including those of the leadership team, benefit from a full exemption of tuition fees.
Applicants holding a valid residence status authorizing employment in Japan are welcome. In order to facilitate daily working conditions, it is recommended to reside near the campus, given transportation costs in Tokyo and commuting constraints. Housing options are available near Akabane, Motohasunuma, and Jujo stations.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE KINDERGARTEN / ELEMENTARY IB HOMEROOM TEACHERS 2026 - 2027
EIFJ, Tokyo’s only English-French-Japanese International School (École Internationale Franco-Japonaise --- www.eifj.org ---), is seeking a Kindergarten / Elementary English Homeroom Teacher, with a preferred start date between April and September 2026.
ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS
Licensed or certified English homeroom teachers preferred.
Native or near-native level of English.
Valid Japanese work visa required (visa sponsorship possible); priority given to candidates already residing in Japan.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Proven experience teaching in kindergarten, elementary, and/or junior high school.
Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework, or strong motivation to obtain IB certification.
Ability to design and implement structured lesson plans.
Ability to possibly teach two grades.
Knowledge of French or Japanese is not required.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The homeroom teacher is responsible for a kindergarten or elementary class, with a teaching load of approximately 24 to 26 hours per week, and fulfills statutory service obligations within the framework of the school's curriculum and the IB.
Duties include lesson planning, project development, classroom instruction, and active participation in the school’s educational program, in accordance with the school curriculum.
CONTRACT, COMPENSATION, AND BENEFITS
Part-time position (up to 29.5 hours per week) or full-time position with health insurance and pension (40 hours per week).
Academic year contract from April to March, or September to June/July, one or two academic years.
Salary, paid leave, and benefits are determined according to a salary scale based on experience, degrees, and certifications, and will be detailed during the interview process.
School tuition fees of the child/children, if any, are free of charge.

MIDDLE SCHOOL - SEPTEMBER 2026
Teacher and tutor and/or IB-certified teacher: at EIFJ middle school, the teacher supports students enrolled with CNED (Centre National d’Enseignement à Distance), the official French Ministry of Education distance-learning institution that provides the national curriculum, assessment framework, and examination preparation for students in France and abroad. Students may be registered as independent candidates or within a regulated CNED class structure.
Within a small multi-grade setting, the teacher ensures academic follow-up in the relevant subjects, guides students through the official CNED digital and printed materials, monitors progress, prepares them for assessments and national examinations, and provides individualized support (term reports, class councils, communication with families, and CNED administrative follow-up).
Teaching is delivered in English, for approximately 24 to 26 hours per week, including coordination with the Head of School and participation in the development of the French–IB middle school programme.
Applicants are invited to specify which subjects they are able to teach using provided materials.

- Music school: additional recruitments of extracurricular activity leaders for piano, violin, guitar and / or ukulele, acoustic and electric guitar, harmonica, flute, clarinet, drums, saxophone, etc.
- Art school: art teachers or passionate in plastic arts, comics / manga, sculpture, pottery, ceramics, design, modeling, watercolor, art history, etc. ; organization of regular exhibitions in school and after school programs
- Hexagon FC and Hexagon MultiSport: additional recruitments of professional or amateur coaches (Japanese, French-speaking, English-speaking or bilingual / trilingual) of football, fencing, karate, basketball, and any other sport.
- Science Lab: recruitment of leaders in charge of extracurricular activities and homework assistance in mathematics, physics, chemistry, life sciences, astronomy etc.; laboratory management, organization of scientific experiments in the school and extracurricular programs.
- Cooking school: recruitment of chefs or passionate cooks for activities on Saturdays and / or Sundays, in Japanese, French, and / or English. Sweet and salty specialties from Europe and Asia.

INTERNSHIPS
- Since 2019, EIFJ has been offering internship opportunities that allow interns to observe classes, experience a school in full operation, receive structured training under the supervision of experienced teachers and the school leadership, experience as well internships in HR, marketing, finance sectors. Each year, the high number of requests for internship agreements from schools and companies confirms the quality and seriousness of the support we provide. Where applicable, a Japanese internship contract may be signed between the school and the intern, and the internship, fully legal in Japan, is duly declared to the relevant supervisory authorities.
- EIFJ also welcomes interns from a wide range of academic backgrounds, including English, French, Japanese, German, Spanish, communication, human resources, marketing, IT, foreign languages, history, and related fields.
- Internship schedules and assignments are clearly defined in the agreement, and any modification is subject to mutual consent between the intern and the school. While EIFJ is currently unable to offer financial compensation, successful internships may lead to future recruitment opportunities, contributing to the development of a long-term talent pool.
- Internships may last from two to several months.
- Between 2019 and 2026, EIFJ welcomed interns from diverse institutions, some of whom chose to return for additional internships and later applied for permanent positions within the school.
