We recommend that applicants reside near the campus to facilitate your recruitment due to the high cost of transportation in Tokyo and the convenience of residing near your work place. Some share-houses are available around Akabane, Motohasunuma, Jujo and other train stations.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE HOMEROOM TEACHER AND/OR IB COORDINATOR 2025
EIFJ, Tokyo’s only English-French-Japanese International School (École Internationale Franco-Japonaise), is seeking a primary school teacher to start between January and September 2025. Established in 2019, EIFJ serves a diverse community of students from kindergarten through middle school, including an international nursery, with a total capacity of 150 students. We are supported by AEFE (the Agency for French Education Abroad) towards accreditation, and have been issued a Certificate of Compliance from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, enabling Government subsidies. As a candidate for International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme* (PYP) accreditation, we align with the IB mission, working alongside schools, governments, and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment.
The school team is made up of one-third French, one-third Japanese and one-third English teachers.

REQUIRED SKILLS
- Experience in teaching in kindergarten, elementary and/or junior high school
- For IB coordinators, experience in coordinating the IB framework
- Knowledge of the International Baccalaureate framework, the French Ministry curriculum, or interest in being trained
- Ability to design lesson plans
- Knowledge of French is not necessary

MISSION
- The teacher takes charge of a kindergarten or elementary class, for a total of 24 hours of teaching per week, and fulfills the statutory service obligations within the framework of the IB.
- Preparation of lessons, implementation of projects, etc., in compliance with current the school’s curriculum.
CONTRACT TYPE, COMPENSATION, AND BENEFITS
- Part-time (29,5 hours per week maximum), or full-time with pension (40 hours)
- September to June academic year
- Salary, paid leave, and benefits depend on a salary grid (based on experience, degrees and certificates), to be communicated during interviews

- Hexagon FC and Hexagon MultiSport: additional recruitments of professional or amateur coaches (Japanese, French-speaking, English-speaking or bilingual / trilingual) of football, fencing, karate, basketball, and any other sport.
- Science Lab: recruitment of leaders in charge of extracurricular activities and homework assistance in mathematics, physics, chemistry, life sciences, astronomy etc.; laboratory management, organization of scientific experiments in the school and extracurricular programs.
- Cooking school: recruitment of chefs or passionate cooks for activities on Saturdays and / or Sundays, in Japanese, French, and / or English. Sweet and salty specialties from Europe and Asia.

SCHOOL BUS
- School bus attendants : attendants can use the co-working space and the assistants' room during the day if needed (free internet access, equipped kitchen etc.). The working times allow them to go to their school if they study or their possible other work in between morning & evening bus services.

INTERNSHIPS
- Since 2019, EIFJ has been offering interns the opportunity to observe classes and a school in operation, and to be trained, supervised by experienced teachers and by the management. The high demand for agreements from schools and companies every year confirms the quality of our support. A Japanese contract can also be signed between the school and the intern, and the existence of the internship, which is legal in Japan, is reported to the Japanese supervisory authorities.
- EIFJ also offers internships to students of English, communication, human resources, marketing, IT, foreign languages, history, etc.
- Schedules and assignments are clearly stipulated in the agreements, and any changes are subject to agreement between the intern and the school. Unfortunately, EIFJ is not currently in a position to compensate its interns, but successful internships may lead to future recruitment, creating a pool for the future.
- Possible internship periods are tone to several months.
