GOVERNANCE

of EIFJ Tokyo

Paris, July 13, 2021

"Mr. Emmanuel MACRON wishes [...] to underline the tremendous success of EIFJ and praises your rallying, at the service of the excellence of France and of French-Japanese cooperation."

Brice Blondel

Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic

Tokyo's French-Japanese International School does not receive any financial support from national or local governments. It relies entirely on tuition fees to cover operational and educational expenses. The school operates in a competitive environment, in a country where two French international schools are conventioned with the AEFE. EIFJ therefore welcomes any financial donations that support the enhancement of its educational programs and community services.

The Association of Parents of Students

EIFJ Parents' Association is the parents' association of EIFJ. A Law 1901 association, managing and affiliated with the FAPEE, the Federation of Parents' Associations of French Educational Institutions Abroad, it is composed of elected parents and the founder. As a managing body, its role is essential within the French, French-Japanese, and international community of the school. Families actively participate in the life of the school outside of the classroom.

The School Council extended to the Middle School

The School Council extended to the middle school (Conseil d’École élargi au collège) is an essential forum for dialogue and collaboration between families, teachers, and the school leadership team. Constituted for one year, it remains in function until the renewal of its members. Each meeting produces official minutes, with one copy sent to the Inspector of National Education (IEN) for the Asia zone. The Council must be consulted on all matters related to the functioning and life of the school, in particular:

- pedagogical structures

- organization of teaching hours and the school calendar

- the school project (or establishment project for the primary level), as proposed by the teachers’ council

- specific actions to ensure better use of allocated resources and adaptation to the school’s environment

- conditions for accommodating students with special educational needs, taking into account local constraints

- planning and organization of field trips

- issues related to students’ hygiene, health, and safety within school and extracurricular settings

- principles for selecting pedagogical materials and tools

- matters related to welcoming and informing parents, and the ways they may participate in school life

- the annual action plan of the primary–secondary (école-collège) council

- the annual action plan against all forms of violence, discrimination, and bullying

The Teachers' Council

This is the main forum for consultation within the school. It brings together teachers and parents with equal voting rights under the chairmanship of the Headmaster/Head of the school. It gives its opinion on the organization of the service and on all problems concerning the life of the school.

The Cycle Council

The Cycle Council reviews the progress of pupils in the acquisition of the various skills defined by the cycle and makes proposals concerning the transfer of pupils from one cycle to another or their standbying in the cycle.

The Children's Council

Held three times a year. Participation in the life of the school and development of citizenship.

The Governing Body (managing organization): Golden M Group

EIFJ is operated by Golden M Group, a private and independently managed company (Gōdō Kaisha, GK) registered under Japanese corporate law. As the legal governing body, Golden M Group is responsible for the overall governance, administration, and financial management of the school. The school is a branch of the company dedicated to international education, aligned with both French and global academic standards. While GMG ensures the school's legal and operational compliance as a private institution, it also collaborates closely with the Parents’ Association and teaching staff to uphold its educational mission and community values.
